Contracts – Improved Contract Relationships (Framework & Application Contracts)

Modified on Thu, 11 Jun at 3:25 PM

DiliTrust CLM now offers an enhanced way to manage relationships between contracts. You can clearly organize pre-contractual documents, link framework agreements to their application contracts, and navigate between related contracts with ease — giving your team a complete, structured view of your contractual commitments.

✅ Introduction

Complex procurement and legal environments often involve layered contract structures: a master framework agreement that covers multiple underlying application contracts, each with its own amendments, appendixes, and related documents. Previously, CLM's relationship section lacked the depth needed to model and navigate these structures clearly.

With this improvement, you can now:

  • Categorize and navigate related documents more clearly (especially pre-contractual documents).
  • Link framework agreements to multiple application contracts, each with its own lifecycle.
  • Navigate between framework agreements and their application contracts seamlessly.
  • Access an improved summary overview across your contract relationships.

✋ Prerequisites / Getting Started

  • You must have contributor access to DiliTrust CLM.
  • Framework agreements and application contracts must already be created in the system, or you can create them as part of this workflow.

⭐ Step-by-Step Guide

Linking a Framework Agreement to Application Contracts

  1. Open your Framework Agreement in DiliTrust CLM.
  2. Navigate to the Relationships section of the contract.
  3. Click Add Relationship and select the relationship type that corresponds to a framework-application link.
  4. Search for and select the Application Contract(s) to link.
  5. Each linked application contract can have its own amendments, appendixes, status, and summary sheet independently.
  6. Save the relationship.

Organizing Pre-Contractual and Related Documents

  1. In the Relationships section of a contract, use the improved category labels to distinguish between pre-contractual documents (e.g., tender documents, declarations) and standard related documents.
  2. Filter or sort by category to quickly navigate to the documents you need.

Navigating Between Related Contracts

  1. From a framework agreement, the relationships panel now clearly shows all linked application contracts.
  2. Click on any linked contract to navigate directly to it.
  3. From an application contract, a clear indicator shows its parent framework agreement.

✨ Tips & Best Practices

  • Use categories consistently: Apply clear, consistent category labels to related documents so your team can quickly identify pre-contractual vs. contractual documents.
  • Create the framework first: When structuring a new procurement cycle, start by creating the framework agreement and then link application contracts to it as they are established.
  • Leverage the summary overview: Use the improved summary section to get a quick view of all related contracts and their current statuses without opening each one individually.

❌ Limitations & Known Constraints

  • Each application contract must be created separately in CLM — bulk creation of application contracts is not available in this version.
  • Relationship types available depend on your CLM configuration. Contact your administrator if you need a specific relationship type that is not visible.

❓ FAQ

Can an application contract be linked to more than one framework agreement?

Typically, an application contract is linked to one framework agreement. If you need to model more complex relationships, contact your DiliTrust administrator.

Can a linked application contract have its own amendments?

Yes. Each application contract is an independent contract in CLM and can have its own amendments, appendixes, status, and workflow — while remaining linked to its parent framework agreement.

How do I distinguish pre-contractual documents from other related documents?

The improved Relationships section includes clearer category labels. Use these categories when adding related documents to indicate whether they are pre-contractual (e.g., tender documents) or standard related documents.
